People the world over buy and love fine art work and antiques and we say it is ours ,The Fact is that we are caretakers of the items and are allowed to hold them and enjoy them until it is time to pass them along for another generation to enjoy . As caretakers we are the protectors of the progress of mankind over the ages . If not for collectors we would never know the beauty of works by the greats and not so greats . Who doesn't get a tingle when looking at a Rembrant or a beautiful statue . There is no feeling quite like holding a fine Kentucky rifle made by some almost forgotten riflesmith of the 1700's or a henry rifle engraved by the great Lenord Nimskie .As a lifelong collector of fine and not so fine guns , knives, antiques, and such other treasures I have loved and enjoyed them all and am glad when these items are passed on to others who will enjoy and care for them .
this excellent piece is an elk which I belive is pewter bronze plated . It is an old casting probably from the 1850 to 90s time period . it weighs 8 pounds and is 8" high 9" long its mounted on a old piece of marble . I have had and enjoyed this piece for 50 years . the price for it is 900.00
The next two bronzes are very fine pieces also.
this one is a brave holding war shield and club .It stands19" high and is about 9" wide . It weighs 20 pounds . This is another piece I have had for some 40 years or so . I believe it is an old orignal bronze . the quality of the casting and the bronze is excellent . There are new versions of this indian being made . I have seen some of them and the casting is poor and they are being made with bronze powder and polymers .cheap imations of the real thing . This piece is made from bell bronze and has a ring that you can hear for several minutes when you flick it . the new copys just go thunk when you flick them . The price for this old piece is 5,000.00
This excellent bronze depicts a lady from the roaring 20's . She is 30" tall and about 15" in width .It weighs 40 pounds .This is a modern piece cast about 30 years ago . it is real bronze not the powder junk they are casting now . this is a quality piece which my pictures do not do it justice . The price for this excellent nude is 5000.00
This beautiful art nouveau style tray has a graceful lady with flowing hair and vine and leave handle . This piece was bought in Germany and was represented as an orignal piece . How ever I beleive it is a reproduction . At any rate it is a beautiful tray and I have enjoyed it for several years . It is made of fine pewter the tray measures 12 by 12 and 1/2" The price for this beauty is $300.00
This piece is another tray with a beautiful nude on it . This one is bronze and measures 12 by 18 and 1/2" it is signed A. Foretay . This is another piece I have enjoyed for the last 25 years . The price on this one is $1000.00
This piece is a small nude laying on a leave . it can be hung on the wall or lay on your desk . It is 3" wide by 5 and 1/2" long and is made of bronze with plated tones on the figure .It has a signature which appears to be Gouanni . There is an interesting story with this piece if it is true . When I bought this piece several years ago the man I bought it from claimed to be a friend of the artist . He told me the artist was a black man and his wife was the subject . supposedly the artist had connections with someone on the African gold coast , and was smuggling diamonds out of there and selling them over here . He was caught and killed and that ended any future work by this fine artist . If true that is a shame as this minuature nude is excellent .At any rate the price is $500.00 . Yes I know that is a lot for such a small piece , but I like it and that is what it will take to get it away from me .
this small little pin tray has a nouveau girls head with flowing hair and is made of fine pewter . it is 4" by 4" . these were used in victorian times to hold straight pins, bobby pins ect. ect. It is small but neet. the price is $50.00
these are antique perfume viles and were in use from around the 1880's to 1930's .When going out to the concert or such a lady would during intermission go to the powder room and put a dab on the back of the neck and elsewhere .Some of these containers were extreamly fancy with cloisonne coatings or gold wrapped . Those will bring several hundred to over a thousand . especially one made by tiffany . This pair are cut crystal and have silver plated caps . The glass rod used as a dapper is missing on both of these . That is usually gone as they were easily lost or broken if the piece saw much use. The largest one is 3 and 1/2" long and the smaller one is 2 and 1/2" long . They are $75.00 each . With an item like this what you are buying is a piece of the past, not a sack of grocerys .I once watched the sell of one perfect Henry 44 flat cartrige from the 1860's period it went for 200.00 dollars . the guy was buying a piece of pristine history not bulk .Sometimes that is really hard to fantom .
This old folding fan dates to at the least 1920's to 30's maybe earlier . I remember playing with this at my grandmothers house . when I was a kid some 60 years ago . When she passed away in 1973 her kids didn't want any of the houseful of antiques my grandmother had collected over her lifetime . I distinctly remember them throwing a large box of carnival glass and a small Tiffany art glass lamp in the trash . and they gave all the old hand carved oak furniture to goodwill . To this day it still bothers me that they disposed of all her treasures as if they were junk . I saved what I could and have had it all these years . This fan was one of those saved pieces . The price for it is $150.00
This Magnificent WMF Art Nouveau centerpiece was made for a German Generalmajor Von Bruckner making it a one of a kind piece . And collectable to military collectors as well as collectors of WMF . This piece is made of pewter and was silver plated . It has a glass liner with a sun burst pattern in the center of it . On one end is a delightful little sailor boy pulling a fishing net . On the other is a beautiful little mermaid pulling the other end of the net . and in the center is a little gargoyle fish under a cartouche . The cartouche on one side is engraved -Von Seinem Vormaligen Commadeur Generalmajor Von Bruckner . On the other side of the bowl it says- Den Kameraden Des 19 Regiments . I believe that roughly translated it says from his comrades of the 19th regiment to General major Von Breckner . If any one can give me the correct translation , I would appreciate it . I believe this piece is 1890-1900 vintage . It is in very good condition with some silver worn off . There are two small flecks on the rim of the glass bowel , only noticeable if you are looking for them . They could be polished out if you wanted . They don’t bother me and I would leave them alone . Nothing is broken or dented on the pewter just normal wear of the silver plate . The piece is 21”long by 8” wide and is 7 and ½” high to the top of the sailors head . On the sailors foot it has hallmarks that are WMF.B in a square -2/0- and AS for antique silver . I believe this is a very unique piece . But if any one out there can give me any enlightenment about the piece -date-or the major I would greatly appreciate it . The price for this highly collectable WMF piece is 3500.00 .
